Women Empowerment and Development Organisation (WEDO)

Women Empowerment and Development Organisation (WEDO) is an independent, non-profit, non-political and public benefit charity established exclusively for charitable purposes in England and Wales. It exists to advance education, relieve poverty, promote social inclusion, develop skills, improve employability and support the economic and social empowerment of women and other disadvantaged or excluded persons, including immigrants, refugees and newly arrived communities, where such support is charitable and delivered for the public benefit. Its activities shall be carried out strictly in accordance with its governing document, the law, and the duties of charity trustees. A charity must act only within its charitable purposes and apply its funds only in furtherance of those purposes.

Geographical Area of Service

The geographical area of service of Women Empowerment and Development Organisation (WEDO) shall initially be the United Kingdom.

Subject to trustee approval, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, appropriate governance arrangements, safeguarding requirements, financial controls, and satisfactory due diligence procedures, WEDO may, in the future, extend its activities to underdeveloped and developing countries where such activities further the charity’s objects and are carried out transparently, responsibly and for the public benefit.
